Literally:
The heart is separate from the belly
In the ABC dictionary :
人心隔肚皮 (rénxīn gé dùpí) People should always be on guard against one another.
In wiktionary :
- keep one's thoughts to oneself
- keep one's thoughts close to one's breast
- to not reveal what one is thinking
