When 鬼 mentioned in Chinese,sometimes it has something to do with the body,the body is cold,so we can use it to describe the body temperature of someone.
Do not use 死人insteads鬼，it is really impolite and offensive to others.It sounds like a curse.
But some rule woman will use 我那死鬼to call her husband when she talks with athers.
