都是惭赧拉大 (all were brought up here in shame)
I'm not sure of this second part : there's a strange accent on 惭 and the construction 惭赧 拉大 sounds strange.

October 20, 2008, 07:16 AMObviously, it's not 都是惭赧拉大 but 都是活拿拉大 with a foreign accent on 活.
活拿 (capture alive) is interesting as it literally means "life taken" (dead in most western languages).

October 20, 2008, 01:30 PMUnfortunately, this part of the sentence is not even dubbed in chinese :
Movie available on SINA with russian dubbing and chinese subtitle
PS: This way of dubbing with only one monotonous voice (here in russian) is typical of eastern Europe... enjoy !!!

October 21, 2008, 07:31 PMmaybe it's: 都是草原拿来的
This would make some sense, since the mongols come from the grasslands. (haven't seen the movie yet, so i don't know the exact context of this scene).

October 26, 2008, 03:20 PMI was watching this extract again and noticed that the monk prononced 的 as "da" not "de".
Then 的 is proved to be a versatile particule with many regional pronunciations : de, di and ... da.
Now, for me the second sentence is : 都是活拿拉的

October 26, 2008, 06:17 PMActually, I think Nitrox was right. It's about people taken from the grassland :
都是草原拿来的 or 都是草原来的 or 都是草原拉的

因为当时奴隶的地位低下,跟牲畜一样,所以用“拉”这个动词,意思是用马车装载运输过来的.看作一个省略句“都是从草原用马车拉来的”

October 19, 2008, 02:05 PMTangut kingdom :
At times, the Tangut kingdom found themselves in the shadow of the Chinese. Several times, the Chinese were able to mobilize Tibetan tribes against the Tangut state. In 1038, Li Yuanhao petitioned the Emperor of China to recognize him as the Emperor of the Tangut state. Although the Song Emperor refused this request, and would only bestow upon him the rank of "governor", Li nevertheless claimed the title of emperor for himself. The Tangut state was destroyed by Genghis Khan in 1227.
