Guys Why not try using QQ the chinese chat program, it works well, good video.

Skype is a Program which acts like a handy using the Internet. It´s for free and if you have a camera you can use the videofunction of it. It is possible to have a conference via skype and you can send messages to your contacts (like an sms). 还有你可use it to call a 固定dianchuade (or how it´s written beepbeepbeep), but that´s not for free ;-)

And what kind of junk mail do you get from SKYPE? (or do you get any at all?) I just dont like to give out my email address to too many companies.

that "junk mail" you get from Skype (I dont know if you can turn them off) is there "newsletter" to inform you what new stuff they have. one click and they´re deleted (that´s what I do instedt of wasting time with reading it) ok maybe two click´s :-) . make up a freemailaccount for that kinda stuff if you get too stressed by such stuff :-)

Is QQ where you chat with webcams and microphones?

of course, QQ just like msn and skype, u can chat with web or mic, u can try it. u will meet many chinese friends on QQ. i'd like to help u if u have any problems:)
