How to use Chinesepod for Traditional Chinese Characters and 注音

Hi,

I recently subscibed to Chinesepod. I am quiete satisfied with the lessons.

Only thing is that I rather prefer to learn traditional characters and the zhuyin transcription. You will all agree with me. The Chinese lessons are usualy aimed to teach Simplified and Pinyin. I can understand that.

Now my questions will be. On Chinesepod. How the students interested by traditional use the lessons? Are they studying both type of characters?

Please share your experience of users of Chinesepod and interest of Traditional Chinese.

Hi Alexandre,

You can use the WLCP software to obtain the lessons (vocabulary, dialogue and expansion sentences) with Traditional characters and Zhuyin.

Andrew,

I used WLCP.

Version 2008_08_14 gives me the pinyin, Zuyin, traditional and simplified in html files. But it does not download the lesson mp3 file

version 2008_10_19_testing gives me only the simplified with pinyin. I have all the files.

I must have missed some configuration to read the xml.

Any hint?

Download this file  tb_welovechinesepod.xsl

Instructions: Download this file to the welovechinesepod_2008_10_19_testing folder.  Delete the existing version of welovechinesepod.xsl.  Then rename tb_welovechinesepod.xsl to welovechinesepod.xsl.

You won't need to redownload any lessons, just refresh the lesson XML file in Firefox.

Actually, yesterday as Chinesepod.com was under maintenance. I made made different trials with different .xsl.

Brilliant your idea to keep the whole information in the .xml and just display the one required with .xls.

Let me play with all this stuff. Looks great.

Alex, you can also set your preference to download traditional lesson guides in the profile section I believe.  Other than that, someone made a plug-in for firefox awhile back that translates simplified characters to traditional on parts of the site like the expansion.

I actually download the traditional Pdf file. But with PinYin and no 注音.

Regarding the plugin for firefox. It is not working well at all. The titles and the vocabulary stay in Simplified characters.But at least the text changed.

Anyway I beleive it is not that bad to make it a bit more difficult. And if eventually I get a little bit of Simplified, Tradidional, PinYin and 注音. It will not harm.

I like the software WLCP. A bit more to do on the templates and it will work well.
