No lesson text on iPod

November 28, 2008, 07:59 AM posted in General DiscussionI am just trying ChinesePod.
But on my iPod 4G I cannot see any lesson text as advertised by ChinesePod. Do I need an IPhone or IPod touch (as displayed on the Chinesepod start page) to view the PDF or the text while listening??
I am a little bit confused about the possibilities of different mp3-players to display the text. May be someone give me some advice on this topic.
Thanks in advance

Is nobody using this feature? Do you print out and read from paper?

November 29, 2008, 04:25 PMxigua1, just so you don't think everybody's ignoring you, I don't know the answer to your question.
Personally, I don't use the PDF to follow along; instead I alternate between listening to the lesson several times and copying a printed PDF (guessing characters from the pinyin/context) until I either get it or decide to move on.

November 29, 2008, 05:21 PMI know that people with iPods have been able to read the text for years (not a PDF), so there should be a way - just don't ask me how as I never had such a device.
On the iPhone you need to touch the display on the media player while playing the lesson. It does not work in live-streaming mode, though.

November 29, 2008, 06:26 PMThe ChinesePod podcasts have the lesson dialogs in the lyrics part of the file. On the iPhone and Touch, you just tap the screen while the podcast is playing and the "lyrics" will display. But on a iPod Nano or other models, you just need to display the lyrics. After the podcast starts playing, just press the middle button a few times to get to the lyrics.
I'm sure many non-Apple players can also display lyrics as well.
