Japanese learners

I speak Japanese well, but I just started speaking Chinese.  I can already see that knowing Japanese will help me with my Chinese, but to be honest, I thought there would be more similarities than I have seen so far.  Any Japanese learners out there?

I was a Japanese major. It doesn't help much in the beginning, but it helps a lot later on. Stick with it!
