Pacing Tips?

As a newbie what is the best way to work through the lessons? Would it be best to memorize and master each lesson before moving on or is a solid understanding good enough?

I suppose it is necessary to repeat lessons as well. I'm just trying to get a feel on how I should pace myself.

Hey honker,

Different ppl will have different approaches. It's best to find what works for you. My suggestion would be to go through lesson that interests you, but not get bogged down with memorizing or anything like that. Go through 10 lesons or so. As long as you comprehend each lesson you can move on to the next. It is far better if you are exposed to, engaged with, figuring out the meanings of new lessons rather than laboring over the same one or two. When you eventually come back to the first one you'll probably be surprised how easy it sounds - the hihgest frequency language gets re-cycled all the time. That's when you know you're learning.At that point, then, you might decide to review the lessons in more detail.

I think I take this approach to the extreme - I listen to CPod all day long at work, passively - rarely looking at the notes when something catches my ear. As a result, my retention is fairly low, but my ears are all the better for it.

I know that stopping with a notebook and jotting down useful phrases would be invaluable to me, and I plan on reviewing everything to do just that.
