Newbies - What do you read?

I want to start reading to get used to Chinese characters and grammar, but I don't know where to go! So, I ask, newbies- what do you read? Children's books? Newspapers? Blogs? Posts on Chinesepod?

The Chinese Breeze series is good: http://www.hanyufeng.com/ They are not for absolute newbies - you'll need a few characters under your belt and a dictionary, as the text is not in Pinyin - but after a few months of Chinese learning and a bit of work on characters (try Skritter.com), you should be able to make headway with these. They are pretty cheap, too, if you order them surface-mail.
