Learning Chinese and want to watch simple TV

Hello

I was wondering if there are any suggestions on tv series, especially on CCTV as I live in china, or that can be watched online. I want to improve my listening and incidentally reading as everything is subtitled. However I would like to actually understand some of the sentences as an intermediate learner, and not get lost to depondency by deep chinese proverbs/lines. Sci-fi preferred personally.

Any pointers?
