Taiwan Poddies Unite!

台灣的朋友們，大家好。

Wouldn't it be great to meet up with your fellow poddies once a month?  Wouldn't it be great to travel to some of the many picturesque towns and scenic spots on this 'Beautiful Island'?  Eat some Chinese food, absorb some culture, practice our Chinese, etc....all the things we love?

Taiwan is a small island.  With the high speed rail, and all the other efficient means of transit here, we have no excuse not to!

I'm thinking we could coordinate something monthly or bi-monthly.

If anyone is interested, please let us know on this thread.  Once we get a decent response, we can discuss our first destination and details.

I'm hoping we can get at least a handful of poddies...it could be a great time.

I'm definitely down for this. Will be in Taiwan soon enough and looking forward to it.  Especially looking forward to clean air again.

And, yes, you're probably thinking, clean air, what am I talking about?  After smoking Beijing's air, everywhere else is considered clean air :)

This is a great idea. I don't live in Taiwan but I will be visiting during the month of December and would love to join in once if this becomes a thing. I'll keep checking this thread to see what happens.

Are people still interested in doing this?  I emailed Brent but never heard back from him, so I'm assuming he's busy with life :)

If there are a few people interested, I'd be happy to start this up.  Would be cool to have a monthly meetup or something of the sort.

Sorry that you thought I left you hangin', but I never received an email from you.  Perhaps there's another problem with the PM system.  I've personally had a handful of messages in the past that I didn't receive or that others didn't receive from me.

Anyway, unfortunately since I started classes at 師大 in June, I haven't had any time on the weekends for traveling :(  However, I do plan on taking the summer quarter off.  I know it's a ways off, but perhaps we could begin planning for some trips then.

Otherwise, I'd love to meet up some time and head out to a night market or something.  Feel free to send me an email at bcatbrentcalkinsdotcom.
