What's the correct measure word for ice cream? 球 seems to be for a swoop, but what about cones? Is it possible to get 红豆-flavoured ice cream in China? ;) "What flavours do you sell"*中文怎么说? [*Is this even proper English?]

Thanks in advance.

Uh-oh... of course it should be a "scoop", not a "swoop". I hope ice cream isn't prone to acting swiftly.

A portion? Would make sense, and that's what I would have come up with spontaneously. I've seen countless other classifiers, though, like 台,支,筒...that's why I'm asking.

Icecream is usually served on a stick in China (like you also see it in Europe, comparable to a "corn dog" in the US).

In this variant you speak of 一根冰棍(儿)

And yes, the "traditional" flavours are 红豆 and 绿豆.

The measure word for a scoop would be 个 with the scoop being a 球 (ball):  一个球冰淇淋

I think "球" is the right word for scoop. In China, we have "红豆冰山" and "红豆冰棒",but they can not be called icecream. 红豆冰山 is a dessert (my favorite), made up of crushed ice, several different beans(boiled by water mixed with honey and sugar) and fruits. And 红豆冰棒 is popsicle with red-bean flavor, it‘s good! (the stick henning mentioned above)

I've checked on google and 球 seems to be used as a measure word for ball of ice-cream but 个 is the most common measure word.

Google gives 5 results (Cpod included)

Google gives 12400 results

Google gives 9160 results

Google gives 49800 results

Google gives 858 results

Google gives 969 results

Google gives 360 results

Google gives 1540 results (that's strange !!!)

Google gives 199 results

Here is a possible answer to the statistical anomaly of 三球冰淇淋 :

三球 sounds like 三秋 (3 autumns)

一日不见如隔三秋 means something like if we don't see each other everyday, we will miss each other (like during a 3 years separation).

一日不见如隔三秋 shorten as 三秋 expresses love or friendship.

(3 scoops ice cream) would represent love or friendship.

Any official confirmation ?
