For a long time now I've been a big fan of the Guardian, a grand old British newspaper which these days of course has an (excellent) website.

Now there's a new reason to check it out, as they have just announced a new service, Guardian articles translated into Chinese, articles which may be of interest to a Chinese audience.

This must be interesting, useful and educational for us Chinese learners though, right? So I cannot resist being the first here to welcome this new aspect of the Guardian.

On this page you can see a list of all articles currently available in Chinese.

Hi raygo

I'm a Guardian fan myself. This looks like an outstanding new addition to their coverage.

The best newspaper on the other side of the pond is the New York Times, which has had some excellent Chinese coverage as well. Particularly strong is Choking on Growth, a ten-part series on China's attempts to balance economic growth against environmental disaster.

It has Chinese translations and even audio files for each story in the series. The difficulty level is a bit higher than CPod's Media series but the vocbulary and concepts are worth discussing.

Great stuff pete, thanks for the link to the NYT piece! It'll be a while until my Chinese is up to CPod's Media series level I'm afraid. Sheesh, I gotta study harder!

China at the Crossroads is a series of articles beginning in today's Guardian, with a Chinese language version available. I just read the first one and I think it's invaluable reading for those hoping to gain understanding into what's going on in China today.
