Suggestions for lesson series

I think there should be a lessons series like pete does poetry only for popular songs.  A lot of culture and slang comes out of popular music, and it would just be more enjoyable to live in China if I understood the music.

i think your idea is a great one. many everyday expressions can be learnt through popular music. in addition contemporary chinese thought on many subjects can be found in popular music, to a certain degree.

i'm not sure if it would be legal though concerning copywright law.however, i'm sure most artists would welcome the foreign exposure.

a song a week of various contemporary genres would be a great addition to the lessons currently provided.

looking for music on baidu  for a beginner or even intermediate poddies would be daunting and very time consuming. add to that the need to spend more time scouring dictionaries to translate vocab.

being a music lover i'd love to do it myself through a weekly post including translation and a list of new vocab, artist background info and other works followed by discussion and poddy ratings of the tune presented, but have yet to figure out how to post video clips. i'm a tech illiterate
