July 16, 2007 at 02:03 PM posted in General DiscussionJust installed the Minimo browser (release 0.02) on my MDA. The first time ever I see Hanzi webpages on my mobile device!
Might be a solution for some others out there fighting with the mobile IE or Opera...

What mobile phones out there support both Mandarin and English input for messaging and the like?
Henning,
Thank you for consistently sharing your language learning experiences. Seems like your discoveries tend to help all of us.

How do you install Minimo and will it work on Tmobile Wing? I just got the wing and to my great dismay has NO CHINESE LANGUAGE SUPPORT WHATSOEVER. If I can't put the phone in Chinese I'd at least like chinese display and imput using the browser.
Tell me more about Minimo!

yes, there is no Chinese version. No Chinese input, no Chinese menus. It all smells pretty beta, too, with lots of issues (popups appearing beyond the visibility line, clumpsy reaction times, ...).
The point for me is: It is the first browser that displayed Hanzi on my MDA pro. The mobile Opera might be sleek, but it didn't show the CPod content, same issue with the mobile IE. Minimo is Firefox in, well, a little bit smaller.
