While the ChinesePod Quick Review app is great for surfing sample sentences, the iCED Free dictionary is quite comprehensive. I recommend it.

August 24, 2009, 01:11 AMThere are two easy ways to type Chinese script using your I-Phone. Mine's a 3Gs, so I can't say for sure whether this is available on earlier versions. Go to Settings|General|international|Keyboards|then scroll to the end and choose either Chinese Simplified or Traditional|then turn on handwriting, pinyin, or both. Once you've done this, whenever you use an application that brings up a keyboard, just to the left of the space bar there is a globe key. Each time you press it, it will toggle to a different keyboard (so will rotate between all keyboards which you have turned on in your settings. Hope this helps!
