终于等到这一天了！ Translation Please

Hi folks. This is from an advanced lesson (I am elementary). Would someone please offer a translation? I was reviewing my intermediate "National Day" flashcards, and again had forgotten 终于, so did a glossary search on CPod, one thing led to another, and now I have a whole set of flashcards of sentences using zhong1yu2. Only thing is, the exact meaning of this sentence escapes me. It's from an advanced lesson, meaning no English translation.

Literally it means "(I/we) have finally waited until this one day!" but a more colloquial translation would be "This day has finally arrived!" or maybe even "It's finally time!" or "The time has finally come!"
