Using Mandarin in Shanghai

Hi everyone,

I was hoping to hear from those of you living in Shanghai about your experience of getting by with Mandarin.

Do you understand what the local Shanghainese are talking about in the office for example? or do you end up learning some of the local dialect not to be isolated?
