August 13, 2007, 07:57 AMhi amolin, 自己 (zìjǐ) is most often used to talk about oneself, often about performing an action oneself, or speaking of a person's own things, affairs. 这件事你自己做。(Zhè jiàn shì nǐ zìjǐ zuò.) 本人 (běnren) is more often used in formal Chinese. For example, when one starts an introduction of oneself in a formal setting: 本人毕业于~~。(Běnrén bìyè yú~~.)

August 11, 2007, 11:44 AMHi Amolin- I remember nice feedback in a lesson discussion from Cpod but I couldn't find it on a search. If I remember right, 本人 can relate to the senses, similar to English expressions like 'I saw it with my own eyes' or 'I heard it with my own ears'. 自己 could be placed after a verb to signify self as an object as in 让我介绍自己 (Let me introduce myself).
