August 18, 2007, 11:45 PMBazza, you mainly hanging around Shanghai while you're in China? Huang Shan isn't all that far from there and it's pretty incredible.

August 19, 2007, 08:13 AMone of the 5 sacred mountains, what do you mean not all that far, I could escape from town for a few days then, I need to explore that

August 20, 2007, 10:03 PMGoulniky, you need about 3 days.. fly or take a bus to Hongzhou, then bus down to the village that's closest to the mountain. We took the gondola up at 6 am and walked around all day on the mountain. There'll be long lines for the gondola if you don't get there early or bribe someone. We stayed in one of the hotels on the mountain overnight and went down the next day. Lots of stair climbing but the views are amazing.

August 22, 2007, 01:51 AMYeah, Huang Shan is pretty awesome. I've climbed it twice! One time it was sunny, the other time it was rainy. Two totally different, but equally memorable experiences.

August 26, 2007, 01:46 PMI'd like to stay up there for a week but would probably go broke due to the high cost of food. We talked to one of the guys carrying loads of stuff up and down all day. He said he was making 50 yuan/day, and working 12 hours/day. Insane.
