Marking Lessons as Studied

How come I can't mark some lessons as studied? When I go to my lessons page and check off certain lessons and use the dropdown to mark them as studied....lots of lessons don't get marked as studied. Yesterday, out of 10 different lessons I tried to mark as studied, only one of them actually took. If anyone can help me with that I'd appreciate it!
