July 15, 2010, 12:53 PM posted in General DiscussionHi i'm a new user and i'm sort of still navigating my way around the site. Last week i found a page that detailed in ten steps the best way to use chinesepod to retain what you go over in the lessons. Does anyone have the link to that page because I hate studying something then forgetting it a few weeks later because I never truly learned it. 谢谢

This is a very disciplined approach to learning Chinese. One that has proven very effective. Enjoy!

As you know Jenny, since you studied English before englishpod.com, we know that you used other methods. I sometimes wonder what was key to your success. (I also think this about John.) Is this anything you would be willing to share?

Besides going to Singapore where I was schooled in English, I had a breakthrough when I started to watch a lot of TV in English and consciously repeated what I heard. I had a tutor and I would ask her about expressions I didn't understand. I also memorized about 20 new words and their usages everyday. So it's a combination of disciplined approach, maximizing my exposure to English and speaking practice. I doubt if I could achieve fluency without any of the three.

Thanks Jenny,
As I expected, you seemed to have worked very hard to get to your level. I really admire your work ethic.
