睡觉 and 睡着

Quick question, could someone please explain the difference between 睡觉 and 睡着? Thanks.

Both mean to sleep, but 睡着 specifically means "fall asleep", while 睡觉 can also be used for "go to sleep" in the sens of "go to bed" in english. Ie you could say "累了，睡觉去吧！＂， ＂我想睡觉＂but wouldn't use 睡着 in that context . As another example, you could say 睡不着 for not being able to fall asleep, but would't use 睡觉 in this context

tingyu, thank you for the explaination! Could I ask about the sentence,"累了，睡觉去吧！＂? Wouldn't it be"累了，去睡觉吧！＂?

for example :

”you look tired,昨晚睡觉了吗？“

“我睡觉了，但没睡着！”
