ChinesePod's Creative Commons License

ChinesePod's lesson podcasts (at 64kbps) are licensed under a Creative Commons license meaning they anyone can take these podcasts and redistribute them in the original or an altered format as long as credit is given back to the original source (ChinesePod).

Is anyone aware of any sites that take advantage of ChinesePod's Creative Commons license?  For example, sites offering their own commentary or remixes of ChinesePod lessons.  I have some ideas on doing this myself but didn't want to duplicate any efforts.

Thanks.

I used to do this before the V3 change. I would create files with only dialog and/or with pauses added for practice time. After the site update, CPod started producing dialog only files themselves and I stopped my efforts. (It also didn't help that all links from by blog site back to CP didn't work anymore. But that's all water under the bridge now.)

I think that is one of the things that 88groups is there to enable, at least in part, for people who don't have their own web site to play with. What you're talking about sounds a bit more free and creative. I think you should just go for it, because we'll all be interested to see a new presentation. At least you'll have lots of interested cpoddies calling in for starters!

If you look at most of the press articles about ChinesePod, they do mention their Creative Commons license as one of the unique aspects of the site. It's curious that more people are not taking advantage of this. Of course, it could be because it's a lot of work! jamestheron, I was thinking of remixing the lessons for a similar purpose. That is, to make it easier to review old completed lessons. I would like to quickly review old lessons but find it tedious to listen to the whole podcast again. AuntySue, thanks for the encouragement. I do have some ideas that I think I would find useful, not sure about the true demand from other folks though. "If you build it, they will come", perhaps.

We both know that "If you build it, they will come" never works. On the other hand, "If you're a cpoddie, we'll be there to support you" usually does.

Hank,

whats up witht the many expansion and dialouge sound files that were lost during the upgrade? They return only a "No data" error. It has been a month. Are these gone for good?
