Sydney Meet and Greet

Would anyone be interested in meeting up for dinner in Chinatown at some point over the next 2 or 3 weeks? There's this really nice sichuan restaurant we could go to, or we could all suggest some places and vote on our preferences and then all hook up at the place and enjoy some good food and alcohol.

I think it would be good to meet people in the area face-to-face because we're all here for the same purpose of learning Chinese for one reason or another. So it might be good to get to know each other a little more so that we might be able to do language exchanges and learn together.. or something like that anyway.

Hi, we would be interested in coming along, a Sichuan restaurant sounds good. Our Chinese is a bit basic - We're at Elementary/Newbie level - but it would be good to meet up and have a chat- and eat some good food of course!

Probably a weekend would suit us better.

Look forward to it,

Jess and Lew

Well I get paid this week, so it would be better on a pay-week than on an off-week. So we could do something this weekend, or a fortnight from this weekend. This definitely doesn't have to the one and only meet-up and we have to start somewhere..

Hi Luke (found out your name from the interview!) - maybe try for a fortnight from now? That would be the 16th-17th. I might also ask a friend who's an ABC who grew up speaking Cantonese but has studied Mandarin as well. - I'm trying to get her into CPod.

Anyone else out there want to join in? Any other Sydney CPoddies?

Yup, sounds like a plan.. will give us some time to drum up some more people for the meet-up anyway.. :) If we can get like 6 or more people we could even go to the hot-pot area upstairs but with only 3 or 4 people I'm not sure it would be worth it, except for the hot-pot menu itself.. but to get the authentic sichuan dishes themselves, you have to be on the main floor.. There's some really hot stuff on the menu as I have found out and also this really tasty (and sweet) dessert that I can attest to as being a genuine Chinese dessert, even though it's not fruit! :) hehe

Just a reminder that we are inviting all Sydney ChinesePOD people for a dinner in Chinatown on the 16th/17th of May. Makes sense to do it on Saturday I guess, so there's less issues with people having to go to work in the morning so less pressure to finish early though I wouldn't expect it to last all night anyway..

Hi Jesselomas,

No this isn't the same group. We only have 3 people so far, so please join us! Apart from the fact that I'm called Jess as well we shouldn't have a problem. ;)

Hi Luke, I haven't replied for a while but dinner on Sat 16th would be good. Or, would lunch suit you? It might be better for us - but we can do either.

We should think about where to meet up and whether we need to wear a silly hat or something to identify ourselves....

I'll private message you my mobile number might be easier :) Lunch is good but I will have to check their opening times and for some reason they don't have them on their website..
