Dissing women "wang4" ?

妄 wang4, absurd, preposterous
狂妄, kuang wang4, arrogant and preposterous
他们一般都是些狂妄自大
Note that the radical above is wang, as in forget, 忘；and the lower radical is woman.
哪，我刚刚读了这个字《妄》，女生们看到这个字有没有什么感觉？生气，讨厌，无所谓？ 有点小笑，不过还真想知道～！

July 15, 2007, 12:31 PMNah, that's just true and very appropriate linking of symbolic meaning! ;p 嫉妒，ji2 du4，be jealous of 最怕的话，是女生对别女生的批评，他们好容易嫉妒了。 呵呵, 我的句词写的不对。。我不太懂嫉妒！ Haha my sentence is incorrectly written, I surely don't understand 'ji du'. ;p

July 16, 2007, 12:34 AMIt's true that there are examples of the "woman" character component indicating a less than desirable quality. (My personal favorite being the traditional character of three women 姦 = treacherous. (Not sure about the simplified version.) Neverthess, there are examples to the contrary. Aside from the ubiquitious 好 there is 妙 = wonderful 嫵 ＝ lovely 嫩 ＝ tender (in the emotional sense) ... and so on. I'm no expert on character morphology, but there are certainly many other examples, both good and bad. Seems like the ancients had a conflicted attitude towards that particular character element. From my (male) perspective, certainly understandable.
