using the tool to convert to pinyin

Struggling here as to how to write in pinyin.  I have enabled the tool and the 'convert to tone marks' box is visible.  However, when I click on it, it does not seem to work wiht or without the text highlighted.  Exactly how do i do this?  Forgive my technical not know how. xie xie

The convert to tone marks only works if you've already put in the pinyin. For example, it will convert hao3 to hǎo. If you want to convert normal chinese text to pinyin, you can do so through google translate (set it to translate english to chinese, then click the + mark for "show romanisation").
