怎么那么 and 怎么这么:

Both of them mean "how could ... be so..."

e.g. 他怎么那么高/他怎么这么高。

Generally speaking, they are interchangable. The only differce is 怎么这么 often refers to person/things near to the speaker, 怎么那么 refers to person/things far from the speaker. But it's relative.

e.g. 超市怎么这么近 chaoshi zenme zheme jin. The supermarket is so near.

      机场怎么那么远 jichang zenme name yuan. The airport is so far.
