I haven't the foggiest idea how to use it or what countries it will work in (he seemed to believe that it would work in China -- would it?), but I have it if I ever need it.

Most Americans know their Chinese zodiac animal; in this country, it's on most chinese restaurant placemats.
We also, strangely, had to figure out our animal in school -- I think it was fourth grade. I asked my dad what year I was born, and he gave me the year that he and my mom got married instead! I was the only kid in my class who claimed to be a dragon.

December 03, 2008, 08:54 PMMy own favorite (extremely Western!) sandwich is a baguette (or equivalent) with hard salami, provolone cheese, mustard and tomato.
My own sandwiches tend to be mostly provolone and tomato, with the salami and mustard merely added for flavor.
Also, John must not have frequented Subway much if the idea of cucumbers on a sandwich surprises him. ;-)

December 02, 2008, 07:43 PMI'm a WordPerfect 5.1 girl, myself*. I finally changed to Word under duress because I got into beta reading fanfiction and got tired of trying to convince the writers that we could move documents between the two programs just fine by converting them to rich text format.
Plus, as much as it galls me to admit it, knowledge of Word has greatly increased my marketability.
*I once spent 20 minutes on the phone with Corel trying to buy the darn thing. They would only sell it to me if I already owned WordPerfect 4.2.
