March 20, 2014, 03:57 PMIn this lesson, we have 收银台 and 收银员, so is an automated checkout 收银机?

March 20, 2012, 09:30 PMThinking of it in terms of powers of 10 might make it more clear to those who are more mathematically inclined. Then you're just adding the exponents.
By the way, in the Grammar section, you discuss "Reduplication". Where did that term come from? Duplication of 看 would be 看看. Wouldn't Re-duplication be 看看看? Just sayin'.

November 02, 2011, 09:16 PMDuring the lesson, John says that 一起 is 4th tone, 3rd tone. But the Dialog, Vocabulary, etc. all indicate 1st tone, 3rd tone. Is this one of those unmarked tone changes?

September 14, 2011, 10:03 PMExcellent explanation, Jenny. I've wondered about this very issue from other lessons as well. 谢谢。

August 23, 2011, 05:24 AMI just noticed the Grammar tab in the lesson. Very nice and useful. Is this new, or have I been asleep?

August 22, 2011, 10:07 PMI second paulanthony on this one. I still find the Newbie lessons to be "Essential", even though I graduated to Elementary a while back.

February 01, 2011, 09:23 PMSo Liliana is hard to bear? I actually enjoy her very irreverent tone. No podcast will ever be considered stuffy or stodgy with Liliana around.
As for QW in general, I'd agree with many others that this one was particularly weak. However, recent ones have been some of the best, in my opinion. 最, 着, and others have been quite helpful to me. Then again, I'm at Elementary level, so perhaps don't have the same perspective and needs as some other listeners.
Keep up the good work CP!

January 22, 2015, 04:07 AMSounds like the recording was done in a room with hard walls - lots of echo. Nevertheless, it's a very useful and interesting lesson, even if it is about feet.
