May 03, 2008, 06:44 AM@baillies "ge" 个 is the generic measure word for objects. In the English expression "a can of cola", isn't "can" the measure word? Like "a flock of birds" where "flock" is the measure word. So "a can of cola" would be 一个可乐 yi1ge ke3le4, or maybe 一被可乐 yi1bei1 ke3le4. But, please correct me if I'm wrong, you wouldn't say 一个罐头的可乐 yi1ge guan4tou de ke3le4 right?

May 30, 2007, 04:43 PM只是我的最好的对话之一。而且Elementary - Your Turn To Pay是我的第一次。This reminds me of the joke in English: In three steps, how do you get an elephant into a refrigerator? Open the door, put in the elephant, close the door. In four steps, how do you get a giraffe into a refrigerator? Open the door, take out the elephant, put in the giraffe, close the door. All the animals in the animal kingdom went to a meeting, but one was not there. Which one was it? The giraffe, it's stuck in the refrigerator. A man was crossing a river but he was afraid that crocodiles would eat him. He made it safely across, why? The crocodiles are at the meeting.

August 21, 2008, 07:35 PMI have my computer setup to automatically play ChinesePod as my alarm clock. This one certainly got me out of bed scrambling to turn off my volume and wondering what my roommates think.
Later I got the joke. I really like all the joke lessons, and I think the lesson is great on that level. A bit embarrasing though, I wouldn't want to play it driving with my windows down.
