February 12, 2008, 03:52 AMwow, some of those comments really went over my head, but they were fascinating nonetheless. Jennyzhu, thanks for clearing something up- my Chinese teacher kept reminding me to say 嗎 and 們 in a neutral tone, and I was wondering why that felt unnatural to me. Turns out maybe it was just the difference of learning some Chinese in Taiwan and then coming back to the Sates and having a teacher from mainland China.

February 12, 2008, 04:21 AMI want to make a banner that says "welcome home" or something to that effect in Chinese, but I'm not sure how to say it. So, 歡迎光臨 "huan1 ying2 guang1 lin2" more or less means "welcome" and 歡迎 can be used more informally, but somehow I don't think adding 家 jia1 on the end of either of those would be a real Chinese phrase. Am I right? What should I say?
