January 19, 2008, 03:34 AMHow do the Chinese pick their English names? I had a friend who sent me a link to a website that generated one for you haha. You just had to input your chinese name in PinYin. That was pretty cool.

January 19, 2008, 03:28 AMAccording to Wikipedia, 电贝斯 (electric bass, dian4 bei4 si1) or 贝斯吉他 (bass guitar, bei4 si1 ji2 ta1) or 低音吉他 (bass guitar, di1 yin1 ji2 ta1) Sorry the numbers indicate the tones 电 means 'electric' 贝斯 is transliteration for bass 吉他 is transliteration for guitar 低音 literally means low pitch, or bass.

January 11, 2008, 08:33 AMIt feels weird to hear about Singapore through Chinesepod, it's almost flattering haha. BTW my father went to 海南岛 （Hainan Island), and he says the 海南鸡饭 there isn't as good as ours. No offense to the local Hainanese. Those who have tried both should tell us about it, I'm really curious to know if it's true. Is it just my computer that's displaying “海” weirdly? 那“每”的两个点成了一撇。

October 09, 2007, 03:53 PMyeah, but he's probably talking about 没事。无事is not used like 没事in like "I'm fine/I'm ok/No matter". It's a lot more rare than 没事 but it's used in certain phrases like 平安无事 (ping2 an1 wu2 shi4/safe and sound) and 无事可做 (wu2 shi4 ke3 zuo4/nothing to do)。

September 29, 2007, 04:13 PMI always thought doufu refers to a woman's butt or um, chest. So chi doufu would refer specifically to sexual harrassment based on groping those areas. But I suppose it's a slightly vague term.

haha sorry I just pasted it from an online dictionary. It can be applied to your case, though it doesn't only apply to seeing lots of pretty girls.
But yeah, Shanghai women dress really well, or at least those I saw in my stay there.
