August 09, 2012, 01:25 PMHi team,
Great lesson, but I have a quick question - Are you sure 管手管脚 is a common idiom? It is not recognized by several of the pinyin input programs I've tried, no example sentences are available on Jukuu, and my wife (a Chinese native) has never heard of it. She suggested the alternative 束手束脚 is pretty common. Maybe 管手管脚 is used more regionally?
Anyway, keep up the good work!

November 25, 2012, 10:18 AMHi all,
Great dialogue as usual. I was trying to get my head around the difference between 番 and 倍 and think I found a few problems.
There are two mistakes in the supplental vocab, based on the dialogue explanation of翻X番:
翻两番 = Quadrupel, not triple
翻三番 = Octupel (8 times), not quadrupel
Y翻X番 means to raise 2 to the power of X and then multiply by Y. So
200 翻一番 = 400
200 翻两番 = 800
200 翻三番 = 1600
Also, according to my Chinese sources, there are mistakes in the audio review. It is pretty awkward to say 翻X倍, however, if we were to say it, wouldn't it mean the same thing as 翻X番, since basically the phrase means "fold/flip X times"?
In any case, if we want to say "triple" wouldn't it be 200的三倍? 200的一倍should be 200 =)
Am I right?
