March 15, 2015, 01:51 PMI live in a small city in China and am asked about how much money I make frequently. It is always a strange question for me as an American. A few times I have acted like I did not hear the question and other times I've said "我不知到" trying to evade the question. I have no good response. I work as an engineer here with American wages and make much more than the average local person. How should I really respond to this question? Would it be polite to tell the truth or should I just keep evading the question? I feel like the ones asking me are being nosy and are almost always people I met only one time....
