September 05, 2007, 07:28 PMAny technical reason why you can't have a "Vocabulary" section on Extras, like on the lessons, so that we could add all of these terms to our vocabulary lists as we learn them? There seem to be a fair number of "Qing Wen"s where this would be handy.

Unfortunately, it's not going to help me, since I'm stuck on the Blackberry, which still doesn't support Asian languages at all. Looks like I'm stuck with my paper flash cards a while longer, at least until RIM gets with the program.

June 27, 2007, 01:21 PMIf I'm not mistaken (and I often am), the literal meaning of "erbaiwu" is "two hundred and five" and the literal meaning of "shisandian" is "thirty drops." So where exactly do the given meanings of "stupid" and "half-cracked" come from? Are there stories behind them? Also, a note: I've never heard the expression "half-cracked" before and am not 100% sure what it means. Is this an Irish or British idiom?

June 25, 2007, 05:35 PMYou can get great xiaolongbao at a couple of places in New York; Joe's Shanghai is the most famous for them but I think Grand Sichuan is the best. (Plus they make a killer ma po dou fu.) Here most places call xiaolongbao "soup dumplings."
