August 04, 2011, 12:01 PMOn my first (and only) visit to Shànghǎi (also when I decided to learn the language) My sister told me to tell say "bùyào" to pushy sales people when I wanted them to leave me alone.
With that, I've come to think of "yào" as the verb "to want". When I read the dialog and the expansion sentences I realize I don't understand when to interpret it as "want" and when it means "will". Any help on this would be appreciated.

September 15, 2011, 05:49 PMI think it would be helpful to have a few "how [word] is not used" in the "grammar" section.
For this lesson, The word shì is tough for me to decide when to/not to use and examples would definitely help.
