I felt no frustration regarding my initial post - I was merely asking whether the search function would be ready today. I am not sure why such a question would be interpreted as coming out of frustration or impatience.
My real frustration lies with these 'helpful' people (for some reason all men), who intercept every request that I explicitly direct to the Cpod staff. Calkins has not been a problem for me before today, so I probably should not have shot off at him so quickly. I am referring mainly to the Peter Sellers impersonator, the circus monkey doing eye exercises, and that other old fart from England. You know, those people who do NOTHING else but sit on these boards all day.
Would I be correct in saying thousands of people use CPod? Why are only a small fraction using these boards? Because all they see are ridiculous photos and videos, and in-jokes that no-one else understands. El Baba has made about 1000 postings already this year. Thats 7 per day, every day, and half is trash.
Next time, Dear CPod means Dear Cpod.

May 18, 2009, 04:59 AMWhy is it that, whenever I direct a question directly to Cpod, someone else feels that it their duty to step in?
You are NOT being helpful.
There are too many people here who have nothing better to do with their time.

You told us that the search facility would be fixed first thing Monday morning. It is still not working. Is it likely to be fixed today?

May 18, 2009, 04:07 AMPeople watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony simply because everyone else watches, and it gives them something to talk about for the next few days. 9 months down the track, how much of the ceremony can anyone remember? Probably a few still images from a total of 4 hours.
And what exactly makes a 'great' opening ceremony? And what does it have to do with the sport anyway. And was it worth all that money? Money spent simply for the sake of prestige, with little or nothing left to show for it. It looks like China is following the Western path of overindulgence.
Synopsis: I wish everyone would stop getting caught up in the BS and realize what is important in this world. A performance? Actors, dancers, singers, politicians, sportspeople? Important? Get real.

Do you ever stop whining?
After twice picking lessons apart, and telling us that Taiwanese food sucks (in capital letters), do you have anything positive to say?

May 17, 2009, 01:25 AMCPod,
I have a problem. Your search facility is not working for me this morning. I am looking for the lesson "I can't find my size", "I can't find my glasses", etc.
Normally if I were to search on 'time' or 'glasses', I would get a hit. This time, nothing. In fact, I can't seem to get a hit on any lessons. I don't want to have to browse through all of your lessons in order to find what I am looking for.
Does the problem lie with you or me?
(It will be interesting to see how many people out there believe I should have said "you or I".)

May 17, 2009, 01:16 AMIn the 20 minutes it took me to write this, while making a cup of coffee, visiting the loo, etc., matsuda slipped in first with an almost identical comment.
Sorry to sound repetitive.

There is no way a Newbie could cope with these sentences. I'm sure you meant Elementary and Intermediate.
Clearly they were the target audience for this lesson, because this vocabulary would already be understood by students at a higher level. The focus of this lesson was this vocabulary, and it makes sense that the example sentences should be directed at the level of the people who are learning this vocabulary.
If you want a more advanced lesson, why don't you suggest to CPod a Qingwen topic that is more suited to your level, perhaps one that focuses on a certain advanced sentence structure, rather than on simple vocabulary.

May 19, 2009, 08:12 AMsure miantiao,
I'm very good at picking a fight.
Is that positive enough for you?
Now back to my natural demeanour: considering that everyone
(1) doesn't want these fights to appear on these boards; and
(2) was fully aware that I was in a not-too-happy, fight-picking mood
no-one did a really good job of shutting me down, did they? If no-one reacted, I would have been shutdown immediately. Instead, you gave me exactly what I sought, and continue to do so.
So, swallow your prides, let me have the last word, and this thread will be over. If not, well you know ...
