Pete, I had some difficulty understanding your translation of the expanded example:
今天就說到這兒吧。"Lets stop here (as in a lesson)."
Is this idiomatic?

Regarding the expansion section sentence:
胡蘿卜要切成一片一片的。
I would have thought the 要 should have been a 是 to be consistant with the past tense translation of "The carrots have been cut into slices."

June 08, 2009, 12:02 PMAs a low intermediate, this was quite a challenging listening practice. The 老板 spoke very quickly and it took numerous replaying of her dialog to correlate it with text .. quite worth the effort though.
Since I know that this a conversation speed I will have to adapt to, I also practiced trying to speak her lines as fast as I could. 哈哈， I will need a lot of practice as my tones tend to mush out and my sentence rhythm degenerates.
How do others use ChinesePod lessons to practice speaking (especially when feedback may not be possible)?
Keep up the fantastic lessons!

June 05, 2009, 12:52 PMI thoroughly enjoyed this video lesson. Its actually more difficult for me to watch and listen a conversation then just listen, as I get distracted watching the facial expression and trying to correlate it to what is being said. This also happens when conversing Mandarin with someone new .. this is great practice.
And thanks so much for everyone who contribute to the clear explanations of zai and zhe.

Thanks so much for your translation of the Jenny and John's podcast!
My first introduction to real Chinese tea ten years ago was 冻顶乌龙茶 (Dong Ding WuLong Cha). It came in an attractive large red canister that I ordered from TenRen Tea in San Francisco. These days I drink a lot Trader Joes Green Tea, an unusual mix of lemon and green tea, but still enjoy a hot cup of wulong.

In the expansion section, 你找什么？is translated as "Who are you looking for?" I would have guessed this to be "What are you looking for?". Are both correct?

As for why I am studying Chinese it goes all the back to my childhood when I was so fascinated with the Chinese culture as introduced in the childrens' book "The Five Chinese Brothers".
