August 12, 2008, 05:31 AMGreat lesson! I love the insight into the corporate life of the Chinese!
I'm sort of confused about the grammar principle Jenny and John talked about regarding the 很 (hen) and replacing it with a 是 (shi). I understand that you would only use it in a certain context saying that something is especially something. Just like the dialogue says, 'the sales are busy!'
The thing is, I've rarely heard this principle used during the time I lived in Taiwan. Would it be more appropriate and acceptable to say ’销售特别忙‘? I know using 是 is for 强调, just like using 特别 or 非常. But I feel if someone says '你是好!', it would sound very very weird to me!
Also, would adding a 的 at the end of this grammar principle change the meaning?

August 06, 2008, 07:29 PM鬼节是不是跟中元节一样的呢? 我之前住台湾的时候发现到他们对宗教这个方面非常的传统。 他们因为很传统所以中元节的时候,几乎每一个人都在烧纸钱。 不管是在家或在他们公司的前面,他们都会! 我在台湾真的很怕鬼节! 不是因为鬼的关系, 而是污染太多了。 真受不了!
