December 24, 2008, 10:42 PMThe glossary in the back of my Chinese textbook includes the measure words for all nouns. My teacher told me that when they learned vocabulary they just learned the measure word right along with the new word by counting the new word. The class I am in is mainly focused towards speaking and I honestly don't want to spend inordinate amounts of time guessing whether the measure word is right or thinking one rule applies to this noun or another rule applies to it just to find out later that I was wrong.
I have a comprehensive Chinese grammar book which covers measure words in detail, but there are always exceptions.

December 22, 2008, 02:07 AMWhy can't the wonderful folks here at Chinese Pod just put the appropriate measure word next to the noun in the Vocabulary portion of the PDF. This would save everyone alot of confusion and would literally take about 2 extra seconds on Chinese Pods part.
