September 13, 2008, 12:03 AMFor Hanzi lovers: I have made a basic research for learning the hanzi in this lesson, I hope it helps you as well as it helped me. 1.- shoes 鞋: the first half is meaning is "leather" since it depicts an animal skin half opened, you can see with the imagination eyes the horns, the head, the open chest, an the feet. The second part is land over land. My mnemonic idea: leather to be used to walk on earth. 2.- pants 褲: first part (leftmost) is a "clothes" as 衣 but written sideways. the second part is "warehouse". My mnemonic: "clothes you use as a warehouse for your body" 3.- As ever, chinese let me bouche-bee at ther genius for devising the hanzi. Zipper 拉鏈: first character is simply to pull (it has gotten the hand on the leftmost part) and lian4, is a wonderful combination of "metal" and "connecting", i.e. metal connecting or connections that are pulled. WOW! Amber, Jenny, please do not laugh (at least too loud or too long) at this simple ideas, but they help a lot to remember the Hanzi.

August 31, 2008, 06:24 AMDear Amber:
I have been studying Mandarin for a while, and I believed the word for wife was "tai tai", in the lesson you use the word "lao po".
What's the difference and the appropiate context to use these two words?

August 25, 2008, 05:56 AMThis lesson is too short and simple to be classified as elementary, it should be at newbie channel.
Besides that, quite good.
