The translation indicates past tense, that is, the visit has already taken place. It seems to me that the Chinese is actually in present tense as it does not contain 了. Is that right?
我來北京出差，顺便看看你。
I'm coming to Beijing on a business trip and visiting you while I'm at it.
vs.
我來了北京出差，顺便看看(了?)你。
I came to Beijing on a business trip, and visited you while I was at it.

Surprisingly, no mention of "pharmacist" - 藥劑師 yàojìshī
Are 藥劑師uncommon in China?

May 02, 2010, 04:08 AMAnyone else not able to see the Dialogue due to default set-up to Traditional characters? I can see the dialogue if I click to simplified. Interestingly, I can see the characters in the Vocabulary tab without having to switch to simplified. This seems to be an issue for both Shanghainese lessons.

Thanks for another great show in the series. I've learned so much from your program and the participation of fellow poetry-loving Poddies. I never imagined I would ever develop any sort of appreciation for Classical Chinese poetry but you are definitely making it possible.
