I'm impressed, Stinky Tufu was one of the few foods that even Andrew Zimmer could not eat without gagging. (for those who watch Bizzare Foods...then, you know what i'm talking about)

standing by the river, next to the sticky tofu vendors... I would have to say the old side of Shanghai looks a bit like parts of New York City from a distance.  It has sort of an Art Deco Style from the 20's... lots of concrete style buildings, dressed up with red Chinese banners running down the face of the buildings... turning the other direction is the skyline everybody is familar with the wall of tall modern glassy buildings with futuristic  Eiffel-tower like structure... i'm still wondering how they project the TV on the side of the one building...

I would characterize china as the wild west of building construction...

speaking of online Chinese dictionaries, I really like this one: http://www.nciku.com It has really cool feature were you can write a character with the mouse and it will looks it up for you without needing to count stoke strokes or find the radical....etc...
