February 12, 2010, 05:14 PMWhat is the purpose of 了 in the last line where it says “你已经有三个了”？ I feel like I often encounter instances of 了 where it almost seems like it doesn't mean much of anything at all and certainly isn't used for any of the uses of 了 that I have learned.
