May 09, 2007, 02:18 AMfanshuren, i've seen this saying before. it's 歇后语。 公鸡 means rooster (lit male chicken). the phrase goes: 铁(打的)公鸡:一毛不拔tie3(da3 de) gong1ji1--yi1mao2bu4ba2. meaning, (like) an iron rooster, you can't pull out one feather. but can't pull out one feather sounds just like can't get out 一毛钱 的毛. hence stingy. it's hilarious really.
