There is no le 了 in the first sentence but then there are le's 了 in the second sentence. Can anyone give other examples of this? I'm not sure how this works.

other useful ones:
打印坏了吗? (dǎ yìn huài le ma?) - is the printer broken?
上不了网吗? (shàng bù liǎo wǎng ma?) - Internet down?
not sure if 上不了网 means "internet connection is down" or "can't get online personally" or both.
arg how do you get rid of this crazy spacing between lines?

Sorry for the bad attempt at typing Chinese. I always imagine the jokey-old-freind character from the Chinese TV series 'golden marriage' when I hear this voice actor in the dialogs. I'll be suprised if anyone's sad enough to know what I mean.

Also, it doesn't sound like he's saying 总是 (zong3shi4).
Sounds more like 肿丝 (zhong3 si1) which obviously doesn't make sense :)
Unless it's some kind of hotpot ingredient I haven't heard of yet. That's what I guessed when I first heard the dialog.
