I haven't seen this mentioned - and I'm VERY new, so really speak NOTHING! - but when I was trying to duplicate the tones I found that it FEELS like the 'modulation' of the 3rd tone works much better if you feel it in your THROAT rather than, say, forming the sounds with your lips like you might in English.
Probably not a good explanation and I haven't actually listened to myself so I don't know if it would come across correctly to others. So just a thought. (My first post. Still on freebie audio only. Really need to upgrade so I can see the words at the same time. I have significant hearing loss, so I don't know how this 'adventure' will turn out. I doubt I'll ever get to the point of being able to converse or understand at any reasonable speed.)
