But I have a question. In the supplementary vocab there is "di4 yi1 sheng1". For my ears it sounds, as if sheng1 isn't pronounced like a first tone in this case. Am I wrong?

Hmm my ears aren't that well trained yet, so maybe because of this it sounds more like the 4th tone for me. I hope, that my listening-ability will improve sometimes :) . To get the right feeling for the chinese language is really hard.
