Is there any rule to the letter z in pinying?

I wonder is the sound 这 dz or tz, i think it sounds dzj. And then

zěnme sounds like tz

This lesson is not hard but the spoken pace is to fast for a newbie lesson.

Also, why do i have to log on to the page to see the transcript? The app needs me to pay more to view that kind of "info".
